Animal Crossing New Horizons might be the third biggest launch in the Nintendo Switch’s history.
In a series of tweets, independent video game analyst Benji Sales speculated that whilst they’d initially expected the relaxing island sim to feature somewhere in the top five most successful Switch titles, they’d now revised this. Sales now suspects it’ll feature in the top three and sit somewhere amongst titles like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and Super Mario Odyssey.

“Whatever your optimistic sales expectations for Animal Crossing New Horizons launch sales were, I can already tell you it’s too low”, the analyst writes on Twitter (thanks, wccftech), whilst acknowledging that without sight of digital sales, it’s difficult to be certain. “Holy hell, HUGE opening incoming.”
