Robin van Persie's son Shaqueel has signed a new three-year contract with Eredivisie giants Feyenoord.

Following in his father's footsteps, Shaqueel joined Feyenoord's academy in 2017 after spending two seasons at Manchester City's youth system. He turned 18 in November 2024 and has now signed his first professional contract with the Dutch giants as he extended his stay until the summer of 2028.

After signing the dotted lines, Shaqueel told Feyenoord's official website: "It makes me feel proud that I can wear the Feyenoord shirt for the coming seasons. I feel a lot of confidence from the club and I work hard every day at Varkenoord to achieve my goals."

Van Persie started his career at Feyenoord before moving to Arsenal in 2004 where he spent eight years. In 2012, in a much-hyped transfer move, the Dutch forward joined Manchester United and in his maiden season at Old Trafford he won his first and only Premier League title. He returned to the Netherlands in January 2018 and spent one and a half seasons at his boyhood club before hanging up his boots.
